Built by a Knot Tyer
Every jig, designer and calculator on this website started as a practical solution to a real knot tying problem. The aim is simple: make decorative knots easier to understand, easier to tie and easier to repeat.
Designed First
Products are developed through CAD design, prototyping, testing and practical knot tying experience.
How KnotJigs Started
KnotJigs began as a small workshop project to create better tools for tying decorative knots. Many traditional knot patterns can be difficult to learn and even harder to reproduce consistently, particularly for beginners.
By combining practical ropework experience with engineering and CAD design, we began developing jigs that guide the knot path and simplify the tying process. What started as a few personal tools grew into a range of products used by knot tyers around the world.
Designed and Made in Cornwall
KnotJigs is a trading name of The Old Drill Hall Marazion Ltd, based in Cornwall, United Kingdom.
The business is run by a mechanical engineer with a background in rope access, fabrication and precision engineering. Products are manufactured in small batches using modern digital manufacturing methods and tested before release.
More Than Physical Jigs
Alongside our knot jigs we also develop free online knot design tools, including Turk’s Head knot designers, pineapple knot designers, rosette knot generators and knot pattern calculators.
These tools are available free of charge and help knot tyers experiment with new patterns, generate SVG layouts and learn more about decorative knot structures.
