Globe Knot Mandrel Set
A set of embossed globe knot mandrels designed to help you tie accurate, repeatable globe knots around a range of core sizes.
Each mandrel features a raised over-under knot path, making complex globe knot patterns easier to follow, tighten and dress.
Embossed Mandrels for Globe Knots
These globe knot mandrels are designed for decorative knot tying, paracord work, maritime ropework, lanyards, key fobs and ornamental cord projects.
Globe knots can be difficult to lay out freehand because the pattern wraps around a spherical shape. The embossed guides on each mandrel provide a clear path to follow, helping you keep the structure accurate while the knot is built up.
Once the knot has been tied on the mandrel, it can be removed, tightened and dressed around your chosen core or object.
How to Use the Mandrels
Start the knot on the mandrel by following the raised over-under pattern. Work around the mandrel until the knot structure is complete, then gradually remove slack and dress the knot.
For a snug finished knot, the final object or core may need to be slightly smaller than the mandrel, depending on the cord size and number of passes.
- For a 3-pass knot using 550 paracord, use a core slightly smaller than the mandrel diameter.
- For a 4-pass knot, a core close to the mandrel diameter is usually suitable.
- Final fit will vary depending on cord diameter, tension and how tightly the knot is dressed.
